Welcome to Braggaboutlife –
An adventure in cruising England’s 3,000 miles of waterways with
expeditions to canals and rivers in Asia Europe and Australia .
Picking up our first canal boat.
A second hand Black Prince Hire boat with a few
modifications requested by us from our home in Australia.
The boat is ready for cruising!
After landing at Heathrow we drove up to Bromsgrove
in the snow to have a look at our purchase.
After a brief look round we got back in the car to find somewhere warm and cosy.
Not, what one would call a thorough inspection.
As it turned out, all was in order, so all we had to do was
organise our personal possessions and move in.
The new Dinette with its table and new cushions that we had fitted.
With this addition Braggabout was given a 4+2 berth function.
(We have four adult children)
(This later proved to be a problem as when all 6 beds were occupied
and the holding tank was full, the boat tilted and the bilge pump,
being on the boats centre line was to high to work efficiently).
The new curtains were in place and looked great.
All the beds had brand new mattresses ready for the new bedding
we had bought to fit in with the curtains and the new paintwork.
The boat came with its original bedding and everything else one
would need to sail away into the sunset with, but we wanted to colour
co-ordinate the inside with the new red and grey paint job on the outside.
We had also ordered a Pram Hood (in black PVC) for the rear deck,
other items would be added as we felt the need.
So come back and see developments from time to time.
I like the helpful info you provide in your articles.
